Welcome to Luke's Blog

This is a Blog about an extraordinary New Zealand Police Dog "LUKE"
SHOT ON DUTY 27th October 1983 in Queen Street, Downtown Auckland, New Zealand
A dog who fought back and lived to wag his tail.
A Dog who touched hearts worldwide AND became a much loved ICON.

It's about promoting a Book written in his Memory.  The proceeds of which are being donated to the Auckland Branch of the New Zealand SPCA.  It's also dedicated to Police Dog Sections throughout New Zealand and the difference Luke made to the working dog becoming recognised as an "Officer on Duty".

It's a Story about the bond between a Police Officer and his Dog.  A K9 dedicated to his call to duty.  This is a Story I have waited along time to publish.  Memories that have never left me, some too hard to tell...
A Dog, whose Spirit still walks beside me today.

"Such an affinity developed between dog and handler that it is difficult to imagine one without the other"
Regional Dog Supervisor M.G.E. Morrissey 6th July 1984
